Amal's journey into agriculture began in 2014 when, while working on an organic urban farm, he fell in love with the cultivation of crops and land.Possessing an engineer's curiosity and an instinct to continually seek better solutions and practices, he spent several years growing organic annual vegetables in fields, high tunnels, and greenhouses before exploring the precision and efficiency of controlled-environment hydroponics. He later found himself called back to the soil through the design sciences of permaculture and syntropic agroforestry.There he discovered the extraordinary power of perennial crops, ecological succession, and integrated food systems modeled after Nature's own patterns and blueprint. Rather than working against natural processes, he learned to design food gardens that become increasingly productive, resilient, and alive over time.
Today, with more than a decade of experience growing food across diverse production systems, Amal brings together practical horticultural expertise with ecological design to cultivate edible food gardens that are bountiful and regenerative.Through Malama AgroEcosystems, he provides Saint Petersburg residents with their own personal supply of clean, nutrient-dense food while building fertile soils, increasing biodiversity, and strengthening local ecosystems.
